The accommodation for standing in section 118 (and since last year, 117) has always been unsatisfactory, as we perch on benches made for sitting which also had an unfortunate tendency to break. The interesting news is the Fire have listened to our concerns, and along with the Village, have taken steps towards making sections 117 and 118 a permanent, safe standing area.

You can see the first changes -- the backs have been taken off the first ten rows of benches in 117 and 118, and they have also been strengthened underneath. Before the first matchday, the dangerous metal potrusions will obviously be removed, and they'll be shifted closer together so we're not falling between the gapes. Long-term, we're hopeful this will be extended up to the entire area and railings will be put in.
What do you think?

In related news, we're in the process of getting a new capo stand produced, which should be permanently installed in the section. The plan right now is to only have one capo, as the two capo idea last year turned out to be confusing at times.

The transformation is probably going to be over a couple of years and each step is expensive. It's probably no the first thought that comes to mind but even this step isn't cheap. Removing the backs and altering the seats is costing money, and the economy sucks. So I see it as a great step towards our goal, and a great move by the Village and the Fire's front office.

I think that without the backs on the benches, it will be a little easier to accomidate the large crowd in 117 and 118.
Also only having 1 capo is another great idea as having 2 seperate sections screaming 2 seperate chants shows unorgnization. cant wait to see you all soon!!!
