Benches required by law?

Houston took theirs out completely in the EB/TA section back in 2007, not sure about last season. - Jonathan Hannon

I remember Guppy saying that without seat backs they can't charge as much money for the tickets in those sections for concerts and such. I guess the village is looking at the stadium now more as an SSS.

awesome that they're making progress, but I too will be much happier and excited when the benchs are gone from our section's all together.... And the whole section, not just the first ten rows of each... - Jesse(S*L)

I think that without the backs on the benches, it will be a little easier to accomidate the large crowd in 117 and 118.\
Also only having 1 capo is another great idea as having 2 seperate sections screaming 2 seperate chants shows unorgnization. cant wait to see you all soon!!!

after I posted I realized about the metal poles. Lesson to everyone. Read carefully before you post.

The transformation is probably going to be over a couple of years and each step is expensive. It's probably no the first thought that comes to mind but even this step isn't cheap. Removing the backs and altering the seats is costing money, and the economy sucks. So I see it as a great step towards our goal, and a great move by the Village and the Fire's front office. - Ben

I would like to see the benches gone all together. The seats are molded and make drunken standing a little uneasy and jumping and celebrating near imposible. The only thing they are really good for is to throw lit flares underneath. - Jason Smith

the only things that keep me from falling back when i'm drunk are the backs...this is a step forward but I still look forward to the day when no benches are present - patty

El Guapo, they are removing the the vertical poles, it says that in the article. And what in the world is SRO and old school terracing? - Ecuadorian

Keep the benches or move to a proper SRO/terrace. Personally, I think we are grow'd up enough to handle SRO. S8 are, overall, a pretty conscious bunch, and I believe we could handle old school terracing.

I hope those metal poles(backing) are removed. Major safety hazard if this picture is what is in store for us at opening home match. - El Guapo

Without the addition of railings it seems like they didn't really do anything for us. Who cares if they take the backs off, we could have done that? - Ecuadorian
